Tiger Spotted In Jharkhand’s Palamu Reserve, The First Time Since Early 2020
A little over a month after the Jharkhand High Court came down heavily on the forest department and asked why the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) should be called a tiger reserve since there are no tigers, a big cat has reportedly been spotted there.According to Forest officials, a healthy and young male tiger was spotted by a team of forest guards under Range Officer Tarun Kumar Singh at Baresad forest on Monday evening.According to officials, there are three to four tigers in PTR which is spread over 1,100 sq kilometres with more than 400 sq kilometres earmarked as the core area. However, the last nationwide tiger census by NTCA had failed to find even a single tiger in the national park. But a tigress was found dead in PTR in February 2020 which establishes that the big cat was present there.
